What is a One-Stop Career Center?
An exciting innovation called America's One-Stop Career Center System connects
employment, education, and training services into a coherent network of resources
at the local, state, and national levels. This new system links the nation's employers
to a variety of qualified applicants and provides job seekers with access to
employment and training opportunities.
What caused this innovation? Employers, job seekers, educators, and community
service providers were asked what would be the best, most useful, and time-saving
way to deliver services. All parties responded: "Give us prompt and courteous
service and easy access to programs and services without a lot of paperwork. Also,
provide us with easy and accurate information about jobs and career paths."
One Stop Career Centers – like JOBsolutions (formerly Wyandot County Job &
Training Center) – create a single point of access for a comprehensive range
of employment services. These include education and training, Unemployment
Insurance, vocational education providers, vocational rehabilitation agencies,
community colleges, human services agencies, non-profit organizations,
and for-profit agencies.
One Stop Career System customers can find a full menu of services including
career counseling and assessment, employer and job seeker access to automated
job postings, information on job trends, assistance on filing Unemployment
Insurance claims, and help in finding Federal or State dollars to cover some
of the costs of vocational training and upgrading of worker skills. In addition,
job seekers and employers can learn about the performance of various employment
and training providers so they can make informed choices about usage.
Customer choice is the key. At JOBsolutions, employers and job seekers may
package the services they desire in any number of ways. From posting a job
opening, looking at job listings at our web site, through career guidance by
highly trained Case Managers, to fully customized packages of assistance for
either employers or job seekers - our customers are in control!
