Partner Overview: The Experience Works Program provides services to job seekers who are at least 55 years old and are determined eligible for the Senior Community Employment Program. Job Seekers may receive a training wage while receiving services including individual assessment and employment counseling. The training wage continues throughout the development of an Individual Employment Plan, job placement, job counseling and follow-up services. Participants needing to upgrade or acquire skills may be placed in public or private non-profit organizations where they receive training and assistance in transitioning to private sector jobs. The training wage is paid by the Experience Works program. Those customers lacking entry-level skills may also be eligible for short-term On- the-Job Training contracts, with The Experience Works programs paying 50% of the training wage.

Partner Overview: The Workforce Development Agency has 4 full-time staff at JOBsolutions. Our staff provides comprehensive services to both employers and job seekers. We offer career counseling, work experience programs, a job club, training assistance, resume assistance and supportive services.

Our Resource Room offers job search materials, computer lab with internet access, a printer, a copy machine, a fax machine, information on unemployment, area help-wanted adds, and much more. Stop by M-F from 8-4:30, or by appointment, to take advantage of this free and useful resource.

JOBsolutions is dedicated to helping businesses improve productivity and decrease turnover. JOBsolutions offers an internet based job matching system, help with recruiting perspective employees, and can help ease the pain of downsizing.

Conducting an effective job search requires that our customers have a realistic understanding of their abilities, aptitudes and interests as well as the requirements and expectations of prospective employers. We interview customers to assess employability, education, aptitude and interests. All partner services may be utilized in this process which results in the development of an individual employment plan and ultimately in rewarding employment. JOBsolutions can help job seekers understand and maximize their strengths and provide short-term vocational training and other assistance to improve skills and overcome weaknesses. Our counselors help job seekers to get and to keep the best job possible in the least amount of time.

Individual training accounts may be available to pay for short-term vocational training when the job seeker and counselor decide it is needed to provide the skills needed to expand career opportunities.

Partner Overview: Marion Technical College (MTC) provides short-term vocational education for a wide range of career paths. An MTC advisor is in the JOBsolutions office once a month helping customers to find the best path to their career goals. The MTC advisor will offer assistance with a variety of customer needs, not just MTC services.

Many of the adult vocational education courses offered at the Marion Technical College may be funded through JOBsolutions administered Individual Training Accounts.

Partner Overview: Ohio Department of Job and Family Services (ODJFS) Customer Service Representatives are on site twice each week. A business services specialist participates as part of our Business Outreach team, providing solutions to the workforce needs of area employers.

ODJFS staff provide employment counseling and job matching services using the State of Ohio labor exchange system as well as other partner services. Assistance is available to employers in submitting employment opportunities to the on-line labor exchange system and to job seekers in the use of the internet registration. Job seekers are informed of current job opportunities and referrals are made to prospective employers. ODJFS personnel also provide information concerning Work Opportunity Tax Credits and other supportive services to employers and job seekers.

ODJFS staff interview customers to assess employability, job retention skills, education, aptitude, job interests and job readiness to ensure employment goals are realistic. Services are coordinated with other partners to improve customer skills when needed to expand career opportunities.

ODJFS staff also provide occupational skills training and vocational education to individuals eligible for such services under the Trade Adjustment Act, and Veterans Employment and Training programs.

Partner Overview: Ohio Rehabilitation Services Commission (ORSC) has program staff in the JOBsolutions office once a week, and will schedule additional individual appointments as needed to provide employment and trainng services to JOBsolutions customers with disabilities.

ORSC counselors coordinate in-depth specialized assessments of each JOBsolutions customer with special needs associated with a disability. An Individual Employment Plan is developed to help customers prepare for careers consistent with their interests, skills and abilities. The Plan is supported by additional services which can include: medical/physical restoration/treatment , development of language and communications skills such as hearing devices, training in speech reading, speech correction, sign language etc.

Training in personal and work adjustment and placement in appropriate post secondary education including short-term vocational programs and supportive services needed to complete training can also be provided under ORSC programs.

ORSC staff also provide Job placement and follow-up services, including job retention services for a minimum of 90 days from the beginning date of employment.

Partner Overview: Upper Sandusky Public Schools A.B.L.E. conducts 4 GED preparation classes each week in the JOBsolutions Resource Room. Students work at their own pace according to their own needs with the assistance of the Instructor. This allows students to enter classes each week without waiting for scheduled sessions. All instructions and materials are free of charge.

Instructors and guidance counselors from Upper Sandusky Public Schools A.B.L.E. will work with all of the JOBsolutions partners, doing academic assessments and testing needed to complete the best Individual Employment and Education Plans and establishing appropriate training goals for all of our customers.
